Violence Against Women in Pakistan (2021–2024)

I am writing this blog to share some serious facts and figures about violence against women in Pakistan. These numbers are difficult, but they are important to talk about. They show a reality that cannot be ignored.

Rising Violence (2021–2024)

Between 2021 and 2024, more than 7,500 women were murdered, including 1,553 cases of honour crimes. These are not just numbers for me. They represent real lives, families, and stories that ended in pain.

During the same period, 173,367 cases of violence against women were reported. The yearly increase is also worrying:

- 2021: 30,757 cases

- 2022: 35,477 cases

- 2023: 46,036 cases

- 2024: 61,997 cases

This shows that violence is not decreasing. It is increasing every year.

Types of Violence

The reported cases (2021–2024) include:

- 17,771 rape and gang rape cases

- 9,799 domestic violence cases

- 89,599 kidnappings

- 632 workplace harassment cases

- 121 custodial sexual assault cases

These numbers show that women are facing different forms of violence in many areas of life.

Other Important Facts

According to the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey

- 28% of women have experienced physical violence

- 6% have experienced sexual violence

- 34% of ever-married women have faced violence from a spouse

- 56% never seek help or tell anyone

Another serious issue is child marriage

- 18% of women aged 20–24 were married before 18

- 3.6% were married before 15

Conclusion

When I look at these numbers, I feel concerned. These are not just statistics. Behind every number is a human life, a family, and a painful story. The most worrying part is that violence is still increasing every year, and many cases remain unreported or hidden.

I believe this issue needs serious attention from society, institutions, and individuals. Awareness, education, and stronger protection systems are needed to reduce this violence.

These facts clearly show that violence against women is a major issue in our society. It is not something we can ignore or stay silent about. Real change is needed to protect women and ensure safety for everyone.
