PTC - Piece To Camera
PTC:
It is basically a "byline".

In TV journalism a "piece to camera" is when a reporter or a presenter speaks directly to the viewing audience through camera. PTC is used to establish a reporter's authority and credibility. Pieces to camera can also be used to get around a lack of pictures, or to demonstrate a piece of machinery or to highlight a specific location. PTC is an important part of news package.
Types of PTC:
- PTC Opening: A reporter do identification and then it is a voiceover
- PTC Bridging: A content is different but the issue is same, actually a reporter bridges two issues and highlight them.
- PTC Windup/Closeup: In this phase a reporter tells, e:g - Cameraman ABC, DEF News etc.
But in talkshows it is totally different as it is called opening not a PTC. As an anchor your introduction must be long. It must be 3 to 4 minutes long. An anchor should introduce her/himself as well as the guests. If your introduction is long your show will be considered a good one show.
While reporting is only 3 to 4 minutes long and a reporter has to meet the deadline that's why we call it "Piece to Camera".
Many reporters do "storyboarding" but I don't think it is useful because everything can't go according to your plan. A reporter should keep her/his eyes open.
