Study of Media

Digital Media

In-short it is introduction to TV Journalism. We will study round about nine elements here and the first one element is "resolution".

Know about resolution.........

Resolution:

It is a ratio of width to height of a TV screen.

It is defined as the number of dots known as pixels that makes up a picture on Television. For any given size of screen, the more dots in the picture, the higher will be resolution and the higher will be quality of over-all picture.

Different countries use different types of video formats (resolution) for broadcasting known as NTSC, PAL and SECAM.

In North America, this standard of "NTSC" is known as; National Television System Committee. The other two types are used around the World known as PAL and SECAM.
PAL means; Phase alternating lines while SECAM means; Sequential color with memory.

NTSC, PAL and SECAM are known as broadcasting encoding system.

Three phases of Production:

There are mainly three phases of Production.
- Pre-production
- Production
- Post-production

Pre-production:

Idea, planning, scripting, and storyboarding etc are known as pre-production.

Production:

The actual shooting and recording is known as production.

Post-production:

Everything comes between production and creating the final master copy is called post-production.

For instance, if you want to arrange a talk-show on "COVID-19" so that COVID-19 is your idea. You'll do some research to make a script and then storyboarding. So all these comes in the first phase known as "Pre-production". After scripting, storyboarding, research and all that when you start recording of program so that actual shooting or recording is called production. After recording your program when you start editing so that phase is actually known as "Post-production". You edit to prepare it for release.
